search this site powered by freefind w elcome to my site called "places to go". my name is david ford and this site records some of my favorite places and attractions in england, particularly around london and the south east which is where i live. "places to go" also includes information on other picturesque areas of the uk including the cotswolds and the derbyshire peak district. every place and attraction has been visited by myself and each is described in a separate page which includes selected photographs and a concise narrative with local information and personal impressions. the places described were visited on holidays or day excursions. this site is complementary to my other to my other two photo collections "a personal tour of yorkshire" and "gardens to go" in the south east of england. the linked images on the right will take you to these sites should you care to view the content. although the prime function of these web sites is a showcase for my amateur photographs, i also hope they will provide useful information about the locations and perhaps help you decide if they are the sort of places you would like to visit or perhaps spend a holiday. creating these web sites has become a hobby of mine since taking early retirement in the year 2000, from my job as an electrical engineer in the petrochemical and offshore industry. the links to the main areas covered by this site are at the top of this home page, these take you to an introduction for the area selected and further links to each place or attraction. this site is non commercial and conveys my personal impressions of the places visited, i hope you may find it useful. many of my earlier pictures were taken with a fuji finepix 4700 digital camera and later with a fuji f700. i have now upgraded to a panasonic dmc-fz30 8mp with a 12x optical zoom which takes more detailed and sharper images, as can be seen from more recent additions. be warned with the onset of digital photography there is always a new camera appearing on the horizon. this web site is being updated and expanded regularly, so please visit again in the future and also call in on my yorkshire and gardens sites. try my "places wallpapers" from the site links above, i think you will be pleased with the quality. also send a free e-card to your friends incorporating a choice of photographs from this site. best wishes david ford please email me with any comments or suggestions you may have. you are visitor number to this site copyright © 2007 this site is designed and constructed by david ford. all rights are reserved images from this site can be made available for commercial use, on payment of a modest fee. please contact david ford by email for further details.
